Stephen O, May District Governor, 2010-2011
Using his military background along with the knowledge and experience gained over 32 years in law enforcement having served as a police officer, a Special Agent with the CID and retiring as a District Commander of the Conrail Police Department, Steve established the American Bureau of Investigation and was a tax practitioner. Over the years, Steve has been on the board or a member of the Licensed Private Detectives Association of Massachusetts, the United States Association of Professional Investigators, New England Council of State Investigators, the National Council of Investigation and Security Services, along with the New England Chiefs of Police Association, and a retired member of the Massachusetts Police Association. Steve is also a proud member of the Marine Corps Association and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. He attended Northeastern University, Penn State University and graduated from numerous police academies, supervisory, command and management courses.
Steve joined the Rotary Club of North Reading in 2003 and was immediately appointed to the board of directors, serving as president in 2006-07. He has been the club secretary, completed the Rotary Leadership Institute training, was appointed an assistant governor and assistant governor coordinator. He was awarded the Governors Citation for District 7930 along with being a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Paul Harris Society.
Steve realized early on that if he was going to be the District Governor, he would have to totally retire or at least semi-retire by the spring of 2010. In following with his plans, in May of 2010 he was able to put all of his business activities on the shelf. There by allowing him to donate all of his time and efforts to guide, as its District Governor, District 7930 as it “Builds Communities and Bridges Continents”
