
Joy N. DeGuzman
District Governor 2012 - 2013
Joy was raised in Summit, NJ and completed her bachelor's degree at Mount Holyoke College. She is a Vice President at William Gallagher Associates of Boston (WGA) in the Employee Benefits Group with a core focus on complex multi-sited insured and self funded plans.
Prior to joining WGA, Joy spent her career employed in the human resource departments of various companies including: BTR Inc., (formerly British Tire and Rubber), Mintz Levin, Thinking Machines Corporation and DDB Needham Worldwide. She holds a Life & Health license, is a designed Group Benefit Associate and is currently pursuing her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans in collaboration with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a frequent speaker at professional events.
Joy resides in Stoneham with her husband, David, and their two boys, Zachary and Jacob. She joined The Rotary Club of Stoneham in 2004 under the classification of Insurance and was immediately appointed to the Club's board of directors, serving as Vocational Service Chair 2005-2006, Foundation Chair 2006-2007 and President 2008-2009. Joy is a Paul Harris Fellow and a second generation Rotarian following her parents' legacy. Her husband and sons are also Paul Harris fellows.
Currently Joy is a member of the board of directors at Stoneham Community Access (Stoneham TV). Her past civic activities include parent leadership for the Jump Up and Go after school program at the Stoneham Middle School, Youth of the Year Judge for the Stoneham Boys & Girls Club, puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and Annual Giving volunteer for Mount Holyoke College.
