About Global Grant Scholarships
Being designated a Rotary Future Vision Pilot District is proving to have its advantages! After feedback from our district members, we have decided to move forward and sponsor Global Grants Scholars for the 2012-13 academic year. Along with many other changes, Ambassadorial Scholars have been phased out and replaced with Global Grant Scholarships (GGS). Our district will be investing $15K, raising the award amount to $30k for an individual scholar.
Among many changes in the scholarship are the following:
* Scholars must study at one of the other 99 Pilot Districts OUTSIDE of the United States. Click for a list of Pilot Districts.
* Applications will be accepted on a quarterly schedule and applicants will be interviewed on a rolling basis. For application deadlines, contact the District Scholarship Chair.
* Scholars must complete a service project in their area of focus while abroad.
* The area of study must fall within one of the 6 Areas of Focus as established by The Rotary Foundation. These include:
1) disease prevention and treatment
2) peace and conflict resolution/prevention
3) basic education and literacy
4) economic and community development
5) maternal and child health
6) water and sanitation
The District Foundation Leadership Team is aware that there will be many questions from clubs as we move forward with converting programs to the Future Vision Pilot guidelines. Lastly, there are several ways in which your club can participate hands-on in the Scholarship process including:
1) Sponsoring a scholar candidate
2) Hosting an in-bound scholar
3) Promoting members to join the District Scholarship Committee
As always, please contact Amy Luckiewicz, D7930 Scholarship Chair with questions and I will make every effort to maintain our District 7930 website scholarship pages.
