District Literacy, what you can do:
AS AN INDIVIDUAL
· turn off the television & read
· read to the children in your life
· reach out to those with young children and let them know how important it is for them to introduce reading, on a daily basis to their children

AS A ROTARY CLUB
In your community
· recruit retired teachers and librarians as members
· appoint a Club Literacy Chair &/or subcommittee
· lead the community in assisting local schools to:
help children whose grades are slipping
start a reading mentoring program
· Share your ideas with other clubs

Internationally : Adopt-a-School
· Help schools near area where PolioPlus is unsuccessful
· Get a partner club in an area of low literacy
· Do a Matching Grant COST $3300
