Rotaract at the BU School of Public Health

The BUSPH Rotaract club is a leading student organization on the Boston
University Medical Campus. Most of our active members are students in
Boston University's Master's of Public Health program, so we have a
special focus on activities that address public health issues locally
and internationally. Our projects reflect the overall goals of the
group but also the passions of the students and others who form our
community.

We meet every three weeks from 5-6 PM (Rotating week days) on the BU
Medical Campus in the South End of Boston. We also meet socially about
once a month at a local restaurant. Our members educate the BUSPH
community through speakers, videos and visual displays; raise funds for
public health projects overseas; and provide hands-on service to local
organizations. In addition, we provide each other with friendship and
support during our time at BUSPH.

Highlights of 2007 include:
A month long fund-raising campaign that won the international Malaria
Cup and raised money for the purchase of over 1,100 bed nets for
malaria prevention in developing countries;
A town hall discussion to educate the community and promote action
regarding  the growing industry of modern slavery;
A week long Change War on the medical campus that raised $600 for
treating neglected tropical diseases; and
Working with a local agriculture program (the Food Project) to harvest
their fall crops.

 Our Rotaract Club is part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the community level, but it knows no limits in its outreach. We are sponsored by Boston Rotary Club, which is a member of Rotary International (the worldwide association of more than 32,000 Rotary clubs). There are more than 8,000 Rotaract clubs worldwide. We combine service with professional and social activities. Rotaract's greatest strength, however, is the friendship it promotes: friendship among Rotaractors, friendship with Rotarians, friendships with community members, and friendships with those who share Rotary ideals around the world. Rotary clubs, which are made up of the most outstanding business people and renowned professionals in a community are our great supporters. This association brings Rotaractors into contact with professionals and business leaders who may prove helpful in the member's professional development. Rotaract gathers one of the most dynamic segments of the population, young men and women ages 18 to 30, who are students, business people and professionals themselves.

We are not gathered on any political basis.
We are non profit organization.
Our main goal is to help people who need help

  We meet every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 8:00 pm in the Trustee Reading Room of Fisher College, located at 116 Beacon St. Boston, MA.
