The Beverly Rotary Club is giving all new Rotarians $250 in seed money for a service project of their own devising. The only rules are that it has to be a service project -- they can't simply turn around and donate the money somewhere else -- and that the project has to involve the help of other Rotarians. The idea is to help get new members into the swing of things quickly, and pair them with veteran members it might otherwise take them months to get to know.
The new members will know right away how important we think they are, the community will benefit from a spate of charitable work, and the projects will bring new and veteran members together in a way that a lunch meeting can't. It’s a small investment that can bring big results.

Jillian Dubman and Walter Hartford chose to use their new member funds to collect/purchase school supplies to help students in the City of Beverly.  To help make this project a reality, they partnered with fellow Rotarian, Sue Gabriel and Beverly Bootstraps to identify the need.  It turned out that high school students were in most need of school supplies, so Jillian and Walter committed to helping 50 students with their supply list.  Thanks to the generosity of the club and fellow Rotarians, they were able to meet that need and even had extra supplies that Beverly Bootstraps can use to help supplement other needs in local schools.
