Please review and contact DG David Gardner ASAP to confirm your club's participation!  Deadline: Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Do you want to work on a project that has little or no cost, provides a significant environmental impact and will be great for Rotary's public image?

Then consider having your club participate in the Arbor Day Project. Our RI President, Ian Riseley, has asked that every Rotarian plant one tree before Arbor Day which is on April 27th. The district will be purchasing enough trees for every member of every club. Click the "Read More" button below for details on club responsibilities.
So, are you interested in making this happen? If so, please send me an email here and someone will send you additional details. Download the Arbor Day Information Sheet here!
What do you have to do?
    1. Find someone in your club who will champion this cause.
    2. Find a partner to work with: public works, cemetery department, youth groups, senior center and a host of other possibilities.
    3. Choose a species of tree: Red Maple, Sugar Maple or White Dogwood.
    4. Determine a location or locations where the trees will be planted.
    5. Schedule the planting between the dates of April 14th and April 27th.
    6. Pick up your trees at one of four locations within the district.
    7. Take photos of the planting process and post to your club Facebook page and your personal page. Send the best action photos to DG Dave.
    8. Create a plan to ensure that the trees survive the first few months and the summer season.
Want to make this a super impactful project? Consider engaging students, other youth groups or seniors in the process and making them TreeKeepers! We can provide them with badges and identification cards, and they can adopt a specific tree and be responsible for the health of that tree until it is well established. Regular watering would be one of the basic duties. Ask them to take pictures and post them on their school or organization Facebook page. Can you imagine the impact if we can ensure that almost 2,000 trees were planted in our district and that a very high percentage of them survived? How about how the TreeKeeper would feel knowing that they were Making a Difference.
