Can Germany lead in Europe without dominating it?

You are cordially invited to a presentation by the Inter-Country Committee (ICC) USA-Germany-Austria on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM CDT (1:00 - 2:00 PM EDT), hosted by the Rotary Club of Chicago, on Zoom. Our district 7930 is one of the founding districts of the ICC USA-Germany-Austria, which was initially established at the RI Convention in Hamburg in 2019.

Speaker: James D Bindenagel, Senior Professor, Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn, Germany

James Bindenagel is a former U.S. Ambassador and career U.S. diplomat.  He is currently Senior Professor and was the founding Henry Kissinger Chair at Bonn University in Germany.

One of the questions of our time is the future of the liberal order. In "Germany From Peace to Power? Mr. Bindenagel posits a new role for Germany.  More than ever, the transatlantic partnership, whose core is the German-American relationship needs to re-invent itself to deal with 21st-century diplomacy.  This book makes the case for Germany playing a more significant leading role in Europe.
