The Wenham Country Club came alive with excited and energized sports enthusiasts on a recent warm and sunny Sunday afternoon when the Rotary Club of Hamilton-Wenham held its first ever 0.5K Mini-Marathon to benefit youth and senior services in Hamilton and Wenham. Rotarians, family members and friends, of all sizes, shapes, ages and physical conditions, competed in a hotly contested romp around the golf links. Hydration (refreshment) stations were strategically located to keep the contestants in fine form for the event, and VIP entrants received the use of a gold cart if the course proved too difficult. Competitors and spectators alike cheered when event coordinator Anne O’Connor announced at the conclusion of the competition that the 0.5K Mini-Marathon would most likely become an annual fundraiser for Hamilton-Wenham Rotary. Ipswich Rotary President Martha Mauser was heard issuing a challenge to Marblehead Rotary President Alex Falk to see which club could outperform the other in next year’s Mini-Marathon.
