The Rotary Club of Ipswich gave a farewell sendoff to club member Bob Wicks on April 19th. Bob and his wife, Debbie, have relocated to North Brookfield, Massachusetts.

Bob joined Ipswich Rotary in 2005 and served as club president, president-elect, vice president and member of the board of directors. Club service included editor of the weekly e-newsletter, Latchstring (3 years); website, ClubRunner, and Facebook administrator; club secretary (4 years); and public relations chair. Bob’s emphasis on leadership and member development during his term as Club President (2011–2012) encouraged others to do the same. He mentored his successors and helped others to develop skills to prepare for leadership positions. His wise counsel included tips on recruitment of new members and retention of existing membership through involvement in club activities and community service.

Following his club presidency, Bob used his experience and talents as an assistant governor, serving eleven district clubs as AG over a six year period: Gloucester, Manchester-Essex, Rockport, Hamilton-Wenham, Newburyport, Amesbury, Greater Salem, Lynnfield, North Andover, Saugus and Winthrop.

Bob Wicks is a model of what embodies the best in Rotary. He sees a world that can be better and where he can make a difference; that his actions and those of others have created lasting change in the world, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Ipswich Rotary and District 7930 will miss him and his ability to Make A Difference.
