The Marblehead Rotary Club is pleased to welcome Blair Lord into the club at its weekly Thursday luncheon meeting held at the Boston Yacht Club. Marblehead Rotary Club President, Alexander Falk, presided over the induction ceremony.
Lord is a recent (and not yet full-time) addition to Marblehead having purchased a home here following his retirement from Eastern Illinois University where he served 16 years as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. He started his career in higher education as a faculty member in the School of Business at the University of Rhode Island and later moved into administration as Vice Provost. He then went to Eastern after 25 years at URI.

While born, raised and educated in Northern California, Lord spent a good portion of most summers during his youth with his grandparents on Marblehead Neck where he learned to sail; hence, the choice of Marblehead as a post-retirement residence. He has two adult daughters one of whom lives nearby in York, ME and who has two daughters of her own. "Fun fact" -- for the first year following his retirement, he worked part-time at a men's haberdashery. He is still in the process of seeking connections and engagements here in Marblehead.

Lord's educational background includes a B.A. and PhD in Economics both from the University of California at Davis, and a post-doctoral fellowship at Wharton.
