District 7930 held its first ever New Member Orientation Welcome Party at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Wakefield on January 11th. This interactive dinner event was organized to help Rotarians who joined since July 1, 2017 navigate the wide world of Rotary and learn more about the big picture of our organization.
Topics were presented and discussed in small groupings in a speed dating style, and touched on Organizational Structure, Basics of The Rotary Foundation (TRF), Rotarian Action Groups (RAG), Rotary Fellowships, Rotary’s Ethical Guides and Guiding Principles, the Six Areas of Focus, Sustainability, Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), and Common Rotary Acronyms, to name but a few. Over 50 new Rotarians attended the program, and from the comments received from the attendees and the presenters, the Orientation Party met its purpose of educating, inspiring, and building the comradery of our newest members. Another Welcome Party may be held for those who could not attend this gathering.
