We are happy to report that our Robert C Wood Memorial Heroes Celebration this past week was a very successful event for our district and for raising funds for The Rotary Foundation. In addition to honoring community heroes nominated by our Rotary Clubs with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition, we also conducted a PHF Points Balloon sale and a silent auction. The total raised through the balloons and silent auction, which was directly promised to the Foundation, was $4,050. In addition, our current financial projection shows that the event actually produced a net profit - thanks to the many sponsorships we had received this year and thanks to all the advertisers in the program book. As a result, our district will be making a total donation to the Rotary Foundation in the amount of $11,000!!

Here's a huge thank you to all the Rotary Clubs who participated and nominated community heroes, to all Rotarians who attended, to the sponsors and advertisers, to everyone who bid on auction items or bought balloons, and especially to the event organizing committee, who had worked on planning this event since July: DG Aide David Deutsch, DRFC PDG Joan Arsenault, IPDG Terry Curran, DGE Lori Karas, DGN Tom Hankard, and District Treasurer Arthur Schwartz. A big thank you also to Liz Cullen for the balloon sales, and to Bob Arsenault for assisting with the balloons as well as organizing the bell and backdrop. Last, but no least, a big thanks to all the Assistant Governors for helping with the running of the event, including setup, check-in, etc.
