The Somervile Rotary Club held its semi-annual Food Drive on Saturday, September 17. This event collects non-perishable food items, diapers, personal care items, Gift Cards and cash. Beneficiaries include local food pantries, shelters, a local senior organization and an elementary school.
The Somerville Club has had a long-term focus on food insecurity issues in the city. The cause has expanded to include much needed toiletries for vulnerable populations in shelters and schools. There is also a big push to secure diapers since they are so difficult for disadvantaged families to secure.
Star Market Porter Square has been a great partner in this event.
