Rotary Club of Stoneham President David Gardner (Boyd’s Direct) recently announced Rotary International’s theme for the 2022-2023 year – Imagine Rotary.

President Gardner notes that the intent of this powerful messaging is for individuals to consider what impact they could have locally and around the globe if they invest their time, talent, and treasure to find ways to provide meaningful service to others who need help.  For Rotary members, that could involve any of the Five Avenues of Service - Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service, or Youth Service, or it could overlap one or more of these areas.  He also noted that the seven dots surrounding the Rotary circle in the middle of the logo signify the Rotary ‘s Seven Areas of Focus – peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention & treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development and supporting the Environment.  These seven areas suggest the areas in which the Five Avenues of Service might find opportunity.

“I am excited to serve as President,” says Gardner, “and I look forward to leading current and new members in a year that I hope will include projects focused locally and internationally on the areas above and that make us all feel proud of our Rotary connection and our ability to change our community and our world for the better.”

He added that “as more and more individuals are working from home, we hear that they look for opportunities to meet other professionals during their workday and we hope that they will find their way to a lunch meeting with our group.  I welcome anyone who wants to meet like-minded professionals and to be more involved in volunteer efforts to consider joining us at a Rotary lunch to learn what we do.”  Rotary Club of Stoneham meets every two weeks on Tuesday at noon at Gaetano’s Ristorante in Stoneham.  The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
