The Wakefield Rotary Club was happy to use a portion of District Matching Grant funds to sponsor a full Thanksgiving dinner for members of the Wakefield Boys and Girls Club this year. Approximately 150 children and their families were served turkey, cranberries, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Wakefield Rotary President Mario Portillo commented, "We were so happy to sponsor this dinner. We know there are kids here, and everywhere, that may not have Thanksgiving dinner. We're very lucky to be able to provide that and are very grateful to the Boys and Girls Club staff for working so hard to cook the meal!"

Additionally, Wakefield Rotarian Anthony Guardia, Development Director of the Wakefield/Stoneham Boys and Girls Club added, "Thanks to the generosity of our very good friends at the Wakefield Rotary we can ensure that every child in our community has the Thanksgiving they deserve. I think I can safely speak for our staff, our members, and everyone else when I say this holiday season we are grateful for to have Wakefield Rotary along with Rotarians throughout the area, as friends. Thanks also to the district for providing the matching funds!" Additional grant funds will be used to build a full-service kitchen at the Boys and Girls Club to expand their food program.
