DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION COMMITTEE

The District 7930 DEI Committee values a commitment to individual and Club efforts to build respect, dignity, fairness, caring, equality and self-esteem.

A top priority for Rotary District 7930 is growing and diversifying our membership to make sure we reflect the communities we serve and are inclusive of all cultures, experiences, and identities.

We're creating an organization that is more open and inclusive, fair to all, builds goodwill, and benefits our communities.

To help us achieve our goal, the Rotary International Board of Directors passed a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) statement, which was just recently updated and expanded in the summer of 2021:

At Rotary, we understand that cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture is essential to realizing our vision of a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.


We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds, across age, ethnicity, race, color, disability, learning style, religion, faith, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status, languages spoken, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values, and beliefs.


Recognizing that individuals from certain groups have historically experienced barriers to membership, participation, and leadership, we commit to advancing equity in all aspects of Rotary, including in our community partnerships, so that each person has the necessary access to resources, opportunities, networks, and support to thrive.


We believe that all people hold visible and invisible qualities that inherently make them unique, and we strive to create an inclusive culture where each person knows they are valued and belong.


In line with our value of integrity, we are committed to being honest and transparent about where we are in our DEI journey as an organization, and to continuing to learn and do better.

Making diversity, equity, and inclusion a priority is everyone's responsibility — from Rotary members to clubs, and to our district.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Rotary District 7930’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is to lead, guide and inform all Clubs and their members about the importance of creating a welcoming, accepting and inclusive environment for all and the necessity of fostering and promoting an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion to attract, develop, engage and retain exceptional service-minded individuals.
 
 

VISION STATEMENT

The vision of the Rotary District 7730’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is to provide all stakeholders the necessary tools, education and space in order to advance diversity, equity and inclusion within our district, all clubs, all members, the individuals we touch, and the communities we serve.

DISTRICT 7930 GOVERNOR'S DEI CITATION

On October 29th we also announced the new District Governor's Citation for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: 
 
Your Rotary, Rotaract, or Interact club can earn a District 7930 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Citation for achieving goals that actively work toward making your club more diverse and inclusive. To achieve the Citation, review the available action steps, select at least 13 , achieve those goals, then
report your achievement to the District Governor. In return, your club will receive a written Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificate signed by the District Governor, as well as Rotary DE&I pins to all club members.
 
You can find the goals and requirements as well as a list of all possible 25 action steps in this PDF document. To track your progress towards these goals, the DEI committee has now published the following DEI Goal Tracker PDF document, which you can use to (a) track your progress, and also (b) to report your achievement to the District Governor.
